What it is: AMAIBEN - Association of Friends of Sister Benigna – it is a private society, founded on August 16, 1982, having Maria do Carmo Mariano as its president. Its headquarters is located in the city of Sete Lagoas in the State of Minas Gerais. A non-profit organization, AMABEN is ruled according to Brazilian regulations.

The origin and social objective of AMAIBEN:

The Association of Friends of Sister Benigna – AMAIBEN – was inspired by Sister Benigna revealed to Maria do Carmo Mariano who, together with friends and devotees of Sister Benigna, organized herself institutionally to keep the works of faith and charity left by the religious from Minas Gerais, Sister Benigna victim of Jesus, at Augusto Silva Nursing Home, in Lavras (in Minas Gerais State). Since then, she has been working hard along with other members of the Association in the hope that Sister Benigna may soon be beatified.

Twice a year, AMAIBEN provides the delivery of groceries, furniture, utensils, clothes, coats, blankets, sweatshirts, adult diapers, wheelchairs, shoes, toys; hair ornaments for the elderly, as well as several other articles that help maintain the Nursing Home.

Campaigns carried out by AMAIBEN:

The Association of Friends of Sister Benigna - AMAIBEN has been promoting campaigns among the devotees to:

•Spread the devotion to Sister Benigna worldwide;

•Gather funds to keep the Augusto Silva Nursing Home as well as pay for the costs of the Beatification Process of Sister Benigna;

•Gather witness reports, data and narratives that might endorse the virtues of Sister Benigna, trying to meet the Canon Requirements in order to speed up the ongoing Beatification process.
